‘Tis the season for celebrations– but also for seasonal depression, commonly known at Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Often triggered by the change in seasons, it can include symptoms such as loss of interest in activities, weight gain, lack of energy, oversleeping and feelings of sadness. In short, its symptoms resemble those of other types of depression.
According to the American Heart Association, SAD impacts an estimated 1.4%-9.7% of people living in North America. It is more common in women. The trigger? Lack of environmental light.
If you suffer from SAD, contact the Innovative Wellness team. Our healing program can help alleviate the symptoms.
